Charlotte Hungerford’s Cancer Center Expands
New Linear Accelerator Coming Soon To Kennedy Drive
Adds New Lymphedema & Complementary Services 

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is expanding the scope and services of its cancer care program in Torrington including a major addition at The Center For Cancer Care to accommodate a new linear accelerator capable of delivering image guided radiation therapy (IGRT). The program has also added lymphedema evaluation and treatment to the menu of complementary therapies and services offered to cancer patients and their families.

CHH Reaches $1 Million Milestone In Campaign to Fund Patient Care Support Network

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) has been busy developing and implementing a new Patient Care Support Network (PCSN) that utilizes the most advanced information technology available to improve patient safety and medical care. The hospital’s fundraising efforts to support the project have received a major boost with the announcement that CHH recently exceeded $1,000,000 in donations and pledges as part of their multi-year giving campaign.

CHH Announces New Latino Outreach Educator

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital (CHH) is proud to announce an important resource for area Hispanic women living in northwest Connecticut. Patricia Pepen is the new Outreach Educator for the hospital’s Early Detection Program (EDP) and is working to spread the word about the free screening services provided through this program.

7th Annual Tour of the Litchfield Hills
Raises $86,000 for Center For Cancer Care Fund

The results are in and the 7th Annual Tour of the Litchfield Hills Cycling event raised $86,000 to aid cancer patients residing in Northwest Connecticut. 1,160 enthusiastic athletes participated in the event held on August 1st taking part in 12, 30, 55, 75 and 100 mile cycling routes and 2, 4, and 8 mile walking routes across Litchfield County.

Center For Cancer Care Hosts Breast Cancer Seminar

The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Center for Cancer Care will host a seminar on Metastatic Breast Cancer on Thursday, October 7th at 5:30 p.m. “Breast Cancer Review: A Special Focus on Metastatic Cancer” will provide an overview of the various types of breast cancers, with special emphasis on metastatic breast cancer and is geared toward health care professionals and those living with the disease. This free program underwritten by GlaxoSmithKline, will be held at The Center for Cancer Care, 200 Kennedy Drive, Torrington. A light supper will be provided. Please call 489-6718 to register.

CHH Bereavement Council To Hold Service of Remembrance

The Bereavement Council and the Spiritual Care Department of The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital will be holding a Service of Remembrance on Wednesday, October 14, 2010. The service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Montfort House Chapel at Lourdes in Litchfield, located at 83 Montfort Road, Litchfield.

Free Mammogram Day Planned For Qualified Women At Hungerford Mammography Center
